Camp Kittimaquundi is a unique summer experience for girls entering 4th-7th grade, plus a group of 8th graders who are selected to be captains. It offers a blend of activities such as sports, arts and crafts, swimming, giant swing, canoes, tubing, nature walks, and most of all, friendships based on common and lasting values.
Camp Kittimaquundi aims to encourage and develop the Christian and human virtues necessary for becoming a positive influence on family, friends and society.
Camp Kitti is founded on the teaching of the Catholic Church and inspired by the life and teachings of St. Josemaria, founder of Opus Dei, which encourages people to seek holiness in and though their everyday activities. At camp, campers have the opportunity to attend daily Mass, go to confession, and say the Rosary with their cabin.
During the week, counselors and staff members give brief talks to their campers about ways they can grow in virtue so that the girls can be more effective leaders. Campers are also mentored by their counselors so they can create resolutions and take what they learned from camp home with them.
Each day campers have the opportunity to swim, boat, play field games, engage in team-work activities and much more. At night campers compete in camp-wide games and end the day with a traditional campfire complete with campfire songs led by counselors.
Camp Kitti takes place at the West River Center, a magnificent site of woodlands, natural wildlife areas and one mile of waterfront on the West River, just minutes away from the Chesapeake Bay. Facilities include a giant swing, an outdoor pool, kayaking, field games, and more.
